Greenburg dispelled any notion he is unhappy with the performance of his boxing staff and considering changes.

"There's no contemplation of any changes at HBO," he said. "We're proud of our franchise and proud of our heritage. We'll continue to work hard to give the very best. I'm proud of my staff. They work very hard. It's a tough business, but we're up to the challenge on a day to day basis."

And here's great piece by Hauser on what HBO needs to do now
http://www.boxingscene.com/what-hbo-now-part-one--36193

Basicaly, HBO suits are doing a major review, and if trust Hauser's insiders, state they will be surprised of Greenburg and Davis have jobs in six months.

Also great nuget, from former HBO employee, stating Greenburg personalizes everything, and can't grasp that what appeals to him doesn't mean it appeals to boxing fans. Example used, Greenburg loves baseball, and so he thinks everybody loves it. And why won't run boxing on during baseball play offs, but will run it against college football games, which produce way higher ratings then baseball.

And get this. Greenburg nixed a synergy with Versus to build up fighters for future HBO dates.

Lampley proposed to Greenburg doing a series on Freddie Roach. Greenburg refused. So Lampley's talent agent then pitched the idea to AMC, and they gave Greenburg one last chance to approve the project. He refused. So now AMC doing Freddie Roach documentary.

Seriously, Greenburg is a fucking moron!

Need another DiBella as point man. Kerry Davis has failed on all levels since taking over DiBella's position.

I dunno why brass just figuring this out. They put TV programmer in charge of their sports aka boxing, and a music guy in charge of the match making

He isn't in denial. He is just an absolute moron!!!!! Billy Bob Thornton's character from Sling Blade is smarter than Greenberg and his cronies.

Here's part 2
http://www.boxingscene.com/what-hbo-now-part-two--36245

HBO spent close to 4 million on buying and advertising Bradley-Alexander. A fight got 1.4 million viewers. The lowest ratings per dollar in HBO Sports history!

How fuck can justify that!!

And get this bullshit! Remember how wondering why fuck HBO was pushing for Martinez to fight Sergie D? Well, it's believed GreenChump promised Shaw for Sergie D as part deal to get Bradley-Alexander made

Even Arum ripps into HBO on how fucking Martinez over with their bullshit deal with Shaw

I'll add, I don't agree with some Hauser's solutions. Like idea of HBO making their own rankings system.

What I'd do immidatly if I was in charge of HBO Boxing

--Obviously, ignore ABC belts, and like ESPN go off The Ring.

--Immidatly use Championship Boxing to fill Ring vacancies

-Stop over-paying for fights that won't produce the ratings.

--Use Countdown shows for non PPV fights.

--Demand Turner stations like TNT to get involved and help put word out for up-coming HBO fights. Or to put fights on said networks. Fact is, HBO like all premium channels are not big enough platform to promote and grow a fanbase or stars.

--NO OUTPUT deals! Instead paying and trying to make "name" fighters, it's a fight by fight basis with all fighters and promoters.

Greenberg took over the pinnacle of boxing programming and fucking ruined it, since 2007 HBO Boxing has consistantly had their lowest viewed fight ever, starting with Kessler vs Calzaghe and ending with Bradley-Alexander

HBO boxing is not relevant anymore, they have fucked things up so bad, only two boxers are relevant in a major scale, and no one hold their breathe because those two superstars fighting would make too much sense for it to actually happen.

HBO IMO is a big reason why UFC has risen in popularity so much the last 3 to 4 years, while UFC has been stacking cards and giving the fans what they want, HBO has been giving us 11 shitty PPvs a year with only one marquee fight on the card (IF WE ARE LUCKY)

Add on, HBO done nothing to give boxing a bigger platform to showcase fights. Greenburg had opportunity to make deal with Versus to show future fighters and build up fights for HBO. And he fucking declined it.

Or done some kind synergy with other Turner networks like TNT.

UFC grew because it was showcased on SpikeTV, which available in like 96 million homes.

Right now, HBO is losing subscribers. Now down to 28 million, the lowest number in four years, and back to back quarterly declines in at least six years.

A lot of that has to do with their battle with DirecTV, but also economy, non exciting TV shows, and movies being readily available to people for cheaper. Add on, yeah, crappy boxing programming.

Point is, can't build big fights, names, and a sport with that kind limited subscription base.

your spot on Grant, and look at what UFC did with Spike, they damn near built their entire brand off the TUF fighters and fans got to see more fighters on Spike, HBO is just fucked IMO.

Look at The Contender. Yeah, the show was a joke. But guess what, because the first season was on network TV, there were people I knew that never watched boxing before who know who BumFredo, Gomez, ect were.

If HBO sports wasn't run by morons, they'd done a synergy with Versus or TNT. Make no mistake, this reason why Arum took Pac to Showtime because they guranteed time on CBS. So went from having limited promotion of 28 million subscribers, a bulk can bet don't even watch HBO for boxing ,to station that's available in over 100 million homes.

And I've always said, getting more exposure is worth taking a paycut and not fighting on HBO. Exposure=More Money!

How BumFredo, Mora, ect keep landing big fights. Because known names.
