WHAT'S NEXT FOR GIOVANNI SEGURA Empty WHAT'S NEXT FOR GIOVANNI SEGURA

He's now done the thing that has often launched a boxing legend. He stopped a great, older fighter in dominating fashion. He now has a platform.

Now Giovanni USE IT!

Offer Calderon a rematch. Fight Filipino Rodel Mayol on the undercard of Manny's next fight. Take on Mexican Omar Nino Romero on the next big card involving Saul Alvarez or Chavez jr. Then go get Brian Viloria or Ulises Solis. Try to build with a Carbajal-Chuiquita level fight with Roman Martinez if he turns out to have the goods.

Come on Giovanni!

I like that idea. The Calderon rematch would be really good.

Viloria is a guy I can never get a clear read on. Marble - you've probably seen this guy in person; what's your take on him?

I've only met him once but I know a couple of folks who know him, in a boxing context, very well. He just doesn't deal with success very well. He wins, he gets distracted by the trappings, doesn't train effectively and it shows. He's at his best with his back to the wall. Tough to stay on top that way. I think of him as a pleasant, very nice Zab Judah.

Certainly seems like a good kid, but the inconsistecy is the the thing; it's hard to know what to expect from this guy in any given fight.

Hard to see Calderon's legs getting younger isn't it?

Seriously, not sure what Calderon is thinking going into the rematch

Ended the fight by taking a knee should tell him all he needs to know

Kinda what I thought. One thing if you're 26, but when you're 35 isn't the right supposition that Father Time is in the room?

There has to be something to Viloria and training habits. He has had weird fights where he gasses out. Then he has fights where his stamina seems outstanding late.

Segura needs to look for big fights and if they don't surface don't sit.

So my advice: FIGHT OFTEN!!!!
