Where's the love for Agbeko?
There's a lot of talk about Khan's win on Saturday and rightly so. He proved a lot by standing up to Maidana's biggest shots and pulling out a hard earned win.
But I thought the performance of the night was by Agbeko. He had a great game plan and worked it to perfection. The way he boxed from the outside and controlled Perez was a thing of beauty. And when he decided to mix it up he took Perez' shots with and iron chin and more often than not got the better of the exchanges.
I'm looking forward to King Kong/Mares.

It's unfortunate that the Bantamweight tournament has been overshadowed by Khan vs Maidana, but Showtime knew the risk when they choose to stage it the same night as HBO's card.

He looked great and Perez looked old and shot. Too many hard fights too quickly I think. Agbeko is a tough customer and has a great right hand. I do however think that all four of these guys are a class below Montiel and Donaire.

I was rooting really hard for Yonnhy so I'm pissed about that. But yea, Agbeko was unreal. He would have given anyone trouble the way he fought.

Very slow. Mabuza, Agbeko, Mares, Agbeko. Tough.
Agbeko boxed like I never thought he could. He showed some of that vs Vic, but not this good. Maybe the Vic fight was rougher bc of Vic's style, but Saturday night, except for I think the 6th, he controlled rather easily.
Its going to be a war with him and Mares. I like Agbeko though.

If Agbeko was more active he would be even better. His step up in competition has benefited him greatly.

Great point, unfortunately with Don King lol
Since he beat up on Luiz Perez been on a nice run
But at least we know he's got Mares next
I disagree that Donaire is a class above these guys though. Mares, Agbeko, Perez would give Nonito hell

Too fast, too young and too strong and all of these guys are easy to hit. Nonito beats these guys badly IMO.

Donaire stuggled badly vs Rafael Concepcion, was getting hit by a tiny Mexicano, and outside of Sidorenko hasnt fought any body meaningful
I think Perez, Agbeko,Marezdoes all do very well against him

Re: Where's the love for Agbeko?
thats a great weight class though. i think that these guys will give both of them fits. i think that montiel is the best but donaire is pretty good too. mares i think will be the best of them all when he hits his prime. there are a couple of other solid fighters at bantam too. its probably the most stacked weight class right now.hardcorebee24 wrote:He looked great and Perez looked old and shot. Bantam and 140 and if they could stay healthy 168 aint too shabby. 154 would be great if those guys would fight, Cotto, Kirkland, El Perro, Cintron, Williams, Maravilla, etc. Feather weight has a nice top six as well. Boxing is fucking great right now. I haven't been this excited in about ten years, since Morales, Barrera, The Prince, Young Pac, DLH, Tito, Tszyu etc.

Re: Where's the love for Agbeko?
exactly, That dude Donaire fought a couple of weeks ago is classes behind the top Bantoms. The huge thing that separates Agbeko, Perez, Mares and Vic from Montiel and Donaire, is punching power. Montiel and Donaire can change a fight with one blow, the other bantoms are work horses who take a lot of punishment. But man can those guys in the tourney take punches. Montiel and Doaire dont really get into wars. This division is very intresting.gomez1012 wrote:Donaire stuggled badly vs Rafael Concepcion, was getting hit by a tiny Mexicano, and outside of Sidorenko hasnt fought any body meaningful
