Not sure what Paulie was complaining about.  It should have been 116-112 scores across the board.  The split decision result made the fight look closer than it really was.  I don't think the 117-111 scorecard was even that bad... there could be a case for it.

Paulie's tantrum probably just lost him his Showtime commentary job.

Broner is a classless cunt. If I was amir khan I'd demand a fight with the prick. Broner is too easy to hit, he will be a force if he goes back to lightweight but if he stays at welterweight he will get exposed. Mayweather earnt his dues the hard way, Broner is getting it given to him. What a complete and utter pig dog rotten old shit cunt

dbudge I agree fully.I stayed up late for what.Mitchel banks was a disgrace.2 fighters and neither one wanted to win the fight.Mitchel has no chin and is gun shy and learned zero since his last fight.banks corner begged him for 3 rounds to throw punches.your losin the fight.banks will not be shown on tv unless its fnf.Mitchel will get killed by a dozen guys or more.broners stock as a fighter has gone way down to me.im tired of hearing he moved up 2 weight classes.hes fighting at his natural weight..he can make 140 with same day weight inns but that's it.he fought one of the weakess punchers i have ever seen and showed no go for broke offense.he gets hit a lot.all that so called talent looks great against bums.against a established guy ike paulie it sucked..alexander will beat him.ditto Bradley.he will have  abad time against kahn rios alvardo lm and several other guys..don't be suprized if the so called maidana fight is bypassed for washed up mosley.hes semi-fucking fools gold.the carefull builup had me fooled for a while...if paulie could punch broner would of got beat.hes a classless low life ignorant jerkoff.he speaks in simple sentences and is awkward doing so.all the top guys are fighting each other and broner will be matched carefully.a 11-1 to 15-1 favorite against a non threat and he wins barely.yep paulie lost the fight but was in every round.hes a lowlife asshole.

I wish someone would ask Broner some tough questions like "So Adrien, who was Paulie tougher than the old lady you mugged?".  Why the media is kind to this piece of trash is beyond me.  One of these guys in a press conference should let him have it.

Hardcore, I made a mistake and erased your post while trying to erase my own.

Sorry man, I was trying to quote you and made an error.

You stated that you liked the fight.

I just saw the post fight interview. I'm still laughing. Those were the two dumbest motherfuckers I ever saw LOL

In all fairness to Broner, I'd be embarrassed if I looked back at some of the things I did when I was 23. Floyd Mayweather is obviously a horrible role model for him.

Things I learned (or were reaffirmed from tonight's fight):
1-Broner isn't that hard to hit.  Ponce De Leon hit him and Paulie did tonight(even Rees did). I'm tired of hearing he lets a guy hit him because they don't have power(or are naturally much smaller in case of Ponce). I am of the opinion that Broner will always be there to be hit.  He does the shoulder roll but he is giving you his body and at times the head.
2-Broner's power and skills are not that good.  Miguel Cotto, Ricky Hatton & Amir Khan all had Paulie in much more trouble.  All three proved they could outbox him and displayed more power (or in case of Kahn-speed).  I never got the feeling that Paulie couldn't hit Broner and Broner could hit him at will (which seemed to be the case at many points against the other three).
3-Broner has no class whatsoever.  Paulie clapped after the decision.  Paulie seemed to embrace him after the fight.  Then Broner starts talking shit like a 10 yr old.
4-The ring was a joke.  A freaking ridge in the middle (per Showtime).  Love when BHOP (who didn't offer much that was useful) criticized the ring when asked during the telecast (earlier on).  That was pure honesty considering that his company was running the production.
5-Barclays is becoming a major player in boxing.  NY has to develop its fighters and focus on Brooklyn. I don't care what part of the city you are from, make Brooklyn your homebase and fight there as often as possible.  I'd much rather see guys fight in home depot in cali, or a full stadium in texas, or in Brooklyn in front of a strong crowd, than watch half empty places in Atlantic City or Vegas.
6-What the hell was going on with the Banks fight? Is it just me or did it look fishy. I've not often seen a guy hurt another guy 3 times, but not follow-up.  Banks also did next to nothing every other round.  It was so bizarre I didn't dismiss out of hand the few suggestions on twitter that the fix was in.
7-Can we get rid of Mauro Ranallo or whatever his name is.  BK is a great host for these fights.  Let him be the blow by blow guy.  Or as a few friends on twitter have pointed out, Al Bernstein has done Blow by Blow before. He doesn't have to be an analyst. Let him call the action.
8-While the last two fights were disappointing, I love Showtime's model.  When you put fights on showtime extreme and then 3 fights on Showtime, it has the feel of a PPV in terms of length (which I like).  This can be a positive or a negative.  You tune in at 7:00 12:30 with a 45 minute break.
9-If Broner actually were to let a poll determine who he would fight next, we all need to vote for Lucas Matthyse.  I'm sure then that idea would completely go to the wayside.
10-Prospect Marcus Browne is going to be in the top 10 at 175 within 4 yrs.

captain your not alone in your thoughts the fix was in.in the stream that I had the English studio commentaters said that possibility was there.mitchel litterly staggered back to his corner after the round and came out on unsteady legs and banks applied no heat at all..as cautious as larry holmes or lennox lewis were at times they would of jumped on Mitchel.
I don't see what banks gained from a fix.he blew a chance for a big payday and the opportunity to get his ass kicked by vitiali.to recoup fix money there has to be a ton of last minute action on Mitchel.if theres evidence of that then indee a fix was in.
banks litterly did not try to win.not even by jabbing.
.it makes you wonder.if the fix was in and Mitchell looked THAT  bad oh boy.where any of thoses tweeters sports writers by any chance.

Mitchell vs banks was ridiculous. Mitchell is an accident waiting to happen, but al Haymon will make sure to milk him for as much as his worth.

Haymon won't put Broner in with any of the top 140 or 147 guys anytime soon. He will probably get him a gift wrapped 140 title so Broner can claim to have belts in 4 weight classes... Before the malignaggi he made a statement about being in the company of only 2 other fighters to have have won titles in 3 divisions by the age of 23.  ..... The problem I have with that is he is putting himself in the same company as Henry Armstrong and Wilfred Benitez...... Joke

I would love for Garcia/LM to fight and LM to fight Broner afterwards (yeah I know Garcia/LM is no gimme, but I believe in the Machine right now).

No worries, the new quoting is weird.  I did like the fight.  I could have sone without the post fight idiocy and crying.  Paulie has to learn to keep things in house.  The problems with boxing the public doesn't need to know.  Shut the fuck up about it already.  Boxing has given him his entire life, shut up already.  If you don't like it don't box, commentate and analyze it.  Broner is an asshole and Paulie could have just dissed him and made more of a fool of him like he did in the presser's leading up, instead he went out like a first rate girl.  Waaaaaaa boxing is corrupt.  No shit douche bag.

Re: Great work Paulie and Adrien

Post  powerpuncher on Mon Jun 24, 2013 2:35 am

here are my thoughts on the whole thing:

-first off, the bika match was great. we have all failed to mention that. not a ton of skill but a lot of heart and determination.
-broner has always had trouble with people who come forward on him because he is there to be hit. it seemed like he had gotten better with it but maybe not.
-i give broner a little leeway on this fight because he did jump up weight (although he still isnt small for the weight but that jump effects you no matter what because fighting a lightweight and welter are different). i also think that paulie fought as good of fight as he could have. lets not forget that most people arent as fast as paulie though so they will be easier to hit and wont be able to land as much.
-i will respect broner a ton if he actually fights who the fans want him too. i have always wanted a fighter to do that. if it actually happens, i will give him a ton of credit. with that said, i hope its either maidana or matthysse.
-people may disagree with me but this is what i think. i absolutely hate it when there is trash talking before a fight and then at the end they hug and act like they are best friends because then i feel cheated. i feel like the whole thing was a hoax. only talk trash if you really mean it. so whether or not you like broner, at least he is real in that sense.
-last thing, broner is still a good fighter. he still has flaws but is very talented. he really needs to step up in competition. maybe a loss or two could help him fix a few things.
-ok i lied, this is the last thing. no way did paulie win that fight. i had it 117-111. i could have seen it anywhere from that score to as close as 115-113. i could not give paulie 7 rounds like one judge did. then he complains about it. his last fight was controversial and was the reason he got this fight, so he should consider himself lucky that he even got this fight.

hardcore some good points.PP I have to disagree on a few things you said.1.paulie did not get that fight because his last fight was controversial nor was he lucky to get the fight.1.he got the fight because he's a popular fighter in the ny city area and golden boy had him penciled in to headline one of the dates at Barclay.remember it was mosley first but that fight fell threw..2.broners folks al haymon plus golden boy felt paulie was easy money plus the entire boxing community felt this fight was a blowout.a phoney title to boot gave golden boy a opportunity to keep selling broner..by the way berto almost got the paulie fight but broners folks steped in at the right time.paulie was schudled to headline a fight at Barclay.thats not luck.3.i hate the trash talk.yes its a hoax many times and it cheapens boxing if that's possible.broner is  being real in a sence since he is genuine trash.4.i don't believe in giving broner or any other fighter a ton of respect for fighting a maidana or a LM.one fight nope.fighters are supposed to fight top opposition.there are at least a half dozen other fighters that can give broner serious problems.now if he fought all 6 in a year and a half yes credit indeed should go his way.

This was hilarious. Watching it live I though Paulie was a cartoon character. Watching it again I still can't tell if he's serious or trying to act or something.

Everything about Broner is scripted. He's always come across to me as corny, but he has been successful in making me hate him. I can't wait for someone to drop him and turn to his oompa loompa dad and tell him to brush his hair. He uses the shoulder roll, but fights straight up so he's not in position to slip left handed punches at all. He doesn't do well when someone is active on the inside (he kneed Paulie Malignaggi to get space...that's saying something). He fights in spurts and is open for counters when he throws combos.

If he stays active, he'll run into some trouble, but I could see him picking his spots well. I think he beats Maidana cleanly without taking too much damage.  could see him coasting off of that into a Bradley/JMM type of fight. Southpaws will give him a lot of trouble because he doesn't feint well or slip well, and that hold side is open. Forget Matthysse, I'd love to watch him fight Danny Garcia (even Zab). He could potentially outbox Matthysse. But if it comes to a vote, I'm going with Khan. That would be the ideal fight for Khan to showcase his skill set and boost his confidence.

Tough night for Showtime. Paulie destroyed a lot of the goodwill and credibility he'd built as an analyst, and Hopkins isn't that informative and Ward isn't that interesting. Tarver and Paulie were solid, but I'm not sure if either one is getting the invite back.

As I stated before, I don't hate Broner. I see him as a really dumb 12 year old. How can I despise a dumb ass like that??

However, I do envy those of you who do take him seriously. Why? If he follows through with his promise to fight who the fans want him to fight, you're going to have the pleasure of seeing him get KTFO (knocked the fuck out.).

the reason that broner fought paulie is because paulie had a belt. if he would have lost his last fight (which most thought he lost), he wouldnt have had the belt, therefore wouldnt have gotten the fight. broner could have had fought cano instead which would have probably been an easier fight for him and still got the belt. i do agree that they took the paulie fight because he has a name and they thought it would be an easy fight.

and i do give him credit for letting the fans pick an opponent because nobody does that. if you are saying that you will only give him respect if he fights 6 hard fights in one year then you obviously dont respect any current fighter because nobody does that anymore. boxing doesnt work that way even if it should.

he isn't going to fight the guy the fans pick. Ringtv.com had a poll with 7 guys on it.  Lucas Matthyse had around 46% of the votes last I checked.

I could see him fighting someone "picked by the fans." By that I mean he will set up a poll on his personal website or something with a list of 4 or 5 fighters picked by him like Mosley, Gamboa, and a couple other guys and claim that is who the fans want him to fight. Totally disregarding all other polls.

first off, lets not start this again about me saying that people said this or that. like most people (obviously not you) im not perfect. i misread it so calm down. and im not complaining about you not knowing how to structure a sentence or a paragraph which makes what you write very difficult to read.

but either way, 6 fights in a year and a half is definitely doable, but still, very few fighters do it. and no fighter does it while fighting top competition for all of those 6 fights.

my final word on this so called disgussion.i said first I disagee with some of your points and of course as a person that has to get the last word in you replied and as usual in your reply you insult people or are a mind reader.example I obviously don't respect any modern fighter.there are several that have earned that respect but you know my thoughts.amazing..then again and yes its several times you have stated things that were never said.thats fact..i cant type but theres no doubt what I write is understandable.but again im perfect according to you.another insult and of course I need to take a writing course but you don't need to take a reading comprehensive course cause gee this one time lol I miss read something.
im going to have to agree with what hardcore said after a series of go arounds with you that he determined you are a jerkoff.
im losing interest and passion for this sport.it has too any problems and its getting worse.im more then losing interest in disgussion things especialy with someone like you that has to hurl snide insults as you did with hardcore and others.
don't worry you can get the last word in for in a day or so im deleating my account.i have no interest in joining any other forum including ninja ..ill watch select fights that im interested in and keep any thoughts to myself.the forums dead and maybe there are reasons diego rum ubeggs tobe gomez grant and a few other active posters have left causing the site to be inactive.
hopefully you can read and understand what I have said dispite my so called shortcomings in expressing myself in a lucid fashion.
