The hell with this depressing shit. I woke up today recalling the funniest Hector Camacho moments I ever heard of and laughed my ass off. This man was a gifted fighter but also a unique personality. All I have to do is think of some of his antics and I start laughing until I'm out of control. I think most people would like to be remembered with laughter.

I recall when Hector made his first TV appearance. He fought against somebody named Louie Loy or something like that (don't recall the whole name.). He was terrific. Blinding speed, perfect combos, etc. I recall he had a habit of turning a fighter around and hitting him in the face from the back. That was hilarious as well.

Following the Rosario right, his antics were often more interesting than his fights, but what a personality. This man could've been one of the top two lightweights ever if boxing was his number one priority.

Hector was, for the most part, a harmless guy. However, he was a danger to himself. If you ever read a mini bio of him, you know his fate was decided long before he became a boxer. Of course, he could've lived until 80, then again he could've been shot at 20. Outside of the ring, he was a cowboy who went 100 mph.

One thing I'll always recall is that, at the age of 15 or 17, he did a 3 month stint in Rahway Prison. The charge was car theft. Though he was a well-known car thief in Spanish Harlem, he insisted throughout most of his life that he didn't steal the car he was prosecuted for. In his own words, “I went to Rahway for a crime I didn’t commit. I became a man that day.” You did become a man Hector; The Macho Man. We’ll never, ever forget you. Thanks for the laughs and thrills. Hopefully, we’ll get to see you again.

(Note: As wild and crazy as he was, Hector hated Mike Tyson. He thought he was a classless individual. lol! )

frank great post.i agree that he was fun and fantastic to watch.a guy with a great chin and unlimted talent and skill.he was old school .a complete fighter who as you said mastered spining a guy and hitting him at the same time.
yes indeed if he was focused and didnt have the demons inside that controled him in the form of addiction there is no doubt in my mind he would of been one of the greatest 12 fighters ever.
he paid the ultimate price for that addiction sadly.
as a life long boxing fan i feel he for sure warrants hall of fame.im sadden by the fact that he could not defeat thoses demons.
camacho is a case of what realy should of been yet as a fan im greatfull for what was..
he was so gifted in the sport that gift of his was i feel very rare.
its a shame he wasnt gifted in life in the form of balance and mental stabilty and strenth..my heart goes out to his mom and kids that truly loved him dispite his shortcomings.

"MediaTakeout.com is SAD to report that the wake for slain former boxing champ Hector 'Macho' Camacho in Puerto Rico descended into chaos after two women claiming to be his girlfriend got into a fight that had to be broken up by police on November 27th."
