so sad to see that.i knew carmen personaly and he was as real down to earth and as honest as you can get.he grew up and lived about 20 or so miles from my home town.everyone loved carmen not only as a fighter but as a regular guy.ill miss him greatly.so will everyone from my old neighborhood.

Carmen was one bad ass SOB. I'll never forget him. Also, and I'm being brutally honest here, I really don't think he had much of a concept of lying. His existence was one of brutal honesty in and out of the ring. He'll be missed.

I also believe he was the one boxer in the 50s to take on the mob.....and WIN!

I'll end this with saying that Carmen has an "argument" for being the toughest guy to ever fight. Combine all that and you have a real life sports hero.

I agree.
Carmen was ALWAYS good for an interview BECAUSE of his honesty. He didnt play games with his answers and sometimes, he unintentionally made people feel stupid when he gave an answer to an obvious question. I liked it when he called "bullshit" on what was obvious "bullshit" on an article written by a scribe to remain nameless. When the scribe took issue, Carmen simply responded "how many rounds did YOU go with the guy? He was not quitter!"


TOUGH TOUGH TOUGH TOUGH guy. Hagleresque in his approach to pain and punishment.
