Canelo vs Maidana in the works

If this fight happens, I will not watch anymore of Canelo fights. I never protested a fighter, but i will protest for this travesty he calls a career.

...ill agree on this.its fucking disgusting.a 140 pounder who moves to welter and id say maidana is a real welter now but alvarez is a big middleweight if we had same day weigh inns.ive defending alvarez in the past but enough is enough.is there not ranked fighters at 154..or take a fight with a real 154 pound guy whos not ranked but decent.

I agree that I would rather see a fringe contender of 154 than Maidana. On the other hand, could this fight end Maidana's run at belts? He can't yo-yo weight for too long and this puts another likely beating on him.

this fight better not happen. maidanas power is already greatly diminished at 147. at 154, he wont even be a puncher. i will watch the fight, but i would never pay for it and this fight actually makes me think less of canelo.

this is ridiculous. When is Canelo going to fight a 154 pound fighter who isn't shot? this is such a waste.

Maidana is 1-1 at Welter, 2 fights removed from his 140 career. How the fuck does this qualify him for a title shot at 154?

I guess we should now direct all of the BUM jr hate to Canelo now right? Shaggy jr err... I mean JCC jr was the prince BUM on this forum now that title belongs to Canelo if he fights another small fighter!!

LOL...and people wonder why boxing is considered a joke by a lot of people. Here we have ANOTHER guy who was manufactured a bogus title, who is vastly overhyped/overrated, and hasn't fought ANYBODY!!!

And the sad part about it is: Canelo actually has fans, lots of them, and has a lot of apologists too(sigh). People in the boxing media, and on various boxing boards were actually trying to justify him fighting Lopez lol.

You guys all know how hard I've been on Bum Jr, and I'll continue to be. But I do give the guy credit for finally stepping up, and stepping up in a big way against a top 5 P4P guy. He got blown away, but he still took the fight. Canelo is a guy who is a Champion(no matter how phoney), and is surrounded by other Champs, and top contenders at 154 who are willing to fight him, but he and his promoter/handlers want no part of them.

But Oscar is not stupid, he thinks we as fans are, but he himself is not stupid. He knows deep down in his heart how limited Canelo is. He knows that as soon as he puts him into the ring against somebody legit, he's going to lose, and there goes his cash cow. But he can get away with him fighting small, limited, undeserving guys because he knows the 'enabling' portion of Canelo's fans will eat up anything he serves them.

Please stop watching crap fights like this people. That's the only way this mess will stop...

maybe its because mexico is dying for a great fighter again. morales, barrera, and JMM are all done or at least about done. since them, there really havent been any great fighters from mexico, or hardly even any good ones. we dont even have the mexicans on the level of castillo or rafa marquez. if JCC jr and canelo are our best ones, mexico is dying in boxing.

It doesn't say anything about this anywhere as far as I can see. I honestly don't think they are trying to make this fight.

Steve Kim tweeted it. It's a fight GBP might do. Im just saying if they do make it I'm not going to watch him fight anymore.

Nobody is hating on Canelo, the anger is directed at his handlers, GBP specifically. Alvarez is a fighter, he doesn't make the fights. This is Oscar. pure & simple.

Canelo is just a fighter and he doesn't make the fights, but he can look at boxrec and any non-ABC rankings and see that he keeps fighting guys who don't fight in the weight class or are old/shot. He isn't dumb.

What do the top 10 P4P guys have in common? They have fought top competition in their weight classes (for the most part). You don't get there by not facing legit top 5 guys in your division.

Canelo's team is doing him a disservice. I understand he is young, but they are going to throw him right into the very deep waters (true elite fighters of the sport) and he won't be able to swim.
