first off, the demarco stoppage was terrible. not that im at all saying that molina was going to win but at least give him a standing 8. molina was hurt but didnt at all seem that bad. sometimes at the beginning of fights, the fighter is just cold so they get hit and get hurt but recover and do well for the remainder of the fight. im just mad that the ref didnt give him the chance.

oslegun or whatever his name is is very tough. he didnt look that bad either. i think that he would give fits to a lot of 140 pounders. he doesnt look like the best fighter, but he looks solid and definitely a top 10 guy. matthyse looked good. i think that there is little question that he is the best at 140 right now. garcia is the fight for him now to really show without doubt who the best is at 140. it needs to happen.

ward i think might be the best p4p right now. although people are saying that dawson isnt very good or never has been, we need to remember that he is and always has been a solid fighter. he has a solid resume. he has beaten top fighters in his weight class and is the legit champ at 175. he may be boring at times and not have a ton of passion during his fights, but dawson got embarrassed by ward. ward make him look like a chump. i dont care what anyone says, dawson was a good fighter and ward just destroyed him. just look at wards resume now. he has beaten the best at his weight and some of them were very good fighters. he has made all of his opponents look average at best.

so whats next for ward? im not sure. he can go up to 175 if there is no one left at 168. best case scenario for him would be chavez jr beating martinez and then him moving up to 168 and fight ward. wards stock would sky rocket after beating chavez.

mayweather is the only fighter right now that can even compare to ward in adjusting to his opponent. its crazy how ward actually beats his opponent at their own game every single fight. with kessler and froch, he fought on the inside and made it ugly. with dawson, he used his jab and just outboxed him. i just dont see anybody who can beat him.

where does ward go long-term?

at 168 he has Dirrell. everyone else is someone he has beaten (Abraham, Froch, Bika, etc...) or an untested prospect (Rodriguez, Oosthuizen, Groves, Degale, Stevenson) The only in their prime top 10 fighter that makes sense is "headaches". He can fight the Martinez vs Chavez Jr. winner, but Martinez's team have said he isn't going to 168.

While Ward only weighed 176 pounds last night, he isn't going to be able to find fights at 168 by middle of next year.

175 shouldn't take him long to get through. We have seen what he can do to Dawson (albeit at 168). Is Pascal, Cloud, Cleverly, Shumenov, or Campillo going to provide a challenge? He is probably too damn smart for all of them.

So where will Ward end up around the end of 2014 or so. He'll be 30 and I predict he will have finished the job at 168, been beating the best at 175, and will be running out of options.

They'll always be new challengers to face in either divisions. The landscape can change within a just a year. Their are good fights for Ward. Sure, he'll be the favorite, but it won't be like Bum's Row like the HW division.

Sure they won't be huge PPV fights. Ward will never be a marquee name unfortunitly. Even Thompson said Ward likely will never be a big cross-over star. But, he said he will be a star beater. I agree with that.

I think there are enough decent, somewhat-marketable opponents at 168 so that he can stay there for several more fights. Oosthuizen, Bute, Groves, and Dirrell are all there and a Froch rematch if he wants it. Make 2 or 3 of those fights while trying to lure a top 160 guy up. Chavez is obviously the money guy that could move up but Sergio might do a catchweight for enough money and Golovkin could build a good following in the next year or so.

I think he can make some exciting albeit one-sided fights at 175 with Shumenov, Pascal, and Cloud in the mix. Cleverly might work his way into being a bigger money fight. The Dawson rematch will be there too. I'm sure I'm the only one that wants this but I also would like to see someone beat Erdei just because he is an undefeated fighter that was lineal champ. If he gets through most of 175 unbeaten, it makes his decision difficult. Legit heavyweights will be too big for him and cruiser has virtually no appeal to US fighters.

The most interesting fights for Ward are in this order.
1) Chavez Jr. if he beats Sergio - Las Vegas
2) Ward vs. Froch II - in England
3) Winner of Cloud/Pascal at a catch weight or Ward moving up in weight. Pascal in Montreal, Cloud in Oakland
4) Ward vs. Dirrell - in Oakland

I like that idea to be honest.

Agree with pretty much all of this except the part about Lucas being the best at 140. He is up there, but not the best. Garcia and JMM both beat Lucas.

And there are at least 3 guys at 147 who could easily go down to 140 and probably own him (Guerrero, Lopez, and of course Bradley).

i always forget about JMM because i think that he only wants the pac fight and then he is retiring so i dont really count him. garcia you could definitely make an argument for but from what ive seen, matthyse is better. i dont think guerrero could beat matthyse. he would make guerrero quit. i have to see more of lopez first to make a judgement call. he is a good fighter but i think that he might have gotten a bit overrated after beating ortiz. we will see though. he is definitely tough. i think that its a toss up with bradley. remember that kendall holt was able to really hurt bradly. matthyse would be all over bradley.
