Andre Ward vs Prime Slappy Joe Calslappy
Who do you got? They are the best fighters in their era and both look unbeat able fight after fight. On boxing scene Wards team is telling Joe to come out of retirement.

I think Calzaghe only beat 5 or 6 ring ranked fighters at 168 in his long reign. Ward already beat Abraham, kessler, Bika, and Froch.

I think Ward finds a way to win. He is that good.

Green was ranked top 10 until Ward embarrassed him

I know. But I didn't want to give Sooner the satisfaction.

Damn green. That guy had all the physical gifts a guy could ask for and did nothing with them.

Lol getting a bit over excited about one extremely good performance.
I think ward vs Calzaghe would have been a heck of a fight. I think ward might have had the skills to win. Brutal beating inside 7 wouldn't happen though

Well Joe had an extremely good style because he was always active and was out working his opponents round after round. I don't believe Ward would have a walk in the park. Wards tougher and has a better chin. Joe was always so fast because he had no zip behind his punches. He threw actual slaps, but he was effective on the way he released his punches because it kept his opponents away and didn't let them get off first. I think it would be an amazing fight. Joe would land on Ward but wouldn't command his respect because Joe punches wouldn't affect Andre from coming Foward and roughing him up on the inside. I think Ward wins an close Desicion.

I love Ward and have come to respect Calzaghe a lot more. That being said, I had it a close fight between an old but closer to prime Joe and a REALLY old but also still very good BHop. I think Ward wins 7 or 8 rounds against an actual prime Calzaghe. Joe is a physical specimen but I think Ward's technical skills wins out just barely. Both are winners and very mentally tough.

Ward doesn't got the kind of pop that'd slow a huge volume slapper like Slappy Joe. He might get a flush counter in that stun or even score a flash knock down against Slappy. But I see Slappy outworking him and that's the kind of shit stupid judges and CompuBox warriors like. Hops fight is a perfect example of that. I've seen that fight in slow mo, and not only is Slappy's eyes closed when he's slapping, none of his slaps were landing clean, if they were landing at all.

Re: Andre Ward vs Prime Slappy Joe Calslappy
i have seen calzaghe fight enough to make a good determination about his greatness. his volume of punching was hard to compete against. when somebody just throws so much its hard to even get off punches of your own. i have definitely seen joe get countered quite a bit though and dropped and even hurt. he is a really good fighter. ward i think is just on another level. even at this point of wards career, he has a better resume that joe and i think has looked more impressive doing it.
i think like all of wards fights, joe would come out early and win 2-3 rounds. they would be close but joe could pull them out. after that, ward starts really landing counters and starts to smother joe on the inside to where he wouldnt be able to get off his punches. joe has never been totally thrown off his game plan before and i think that would really hurt him because i really dont think he has a plan B. once he couldnt just throw nonstop, he wouldnt have a jab or a really hard punch to resort to.
calzaghe was fortunate to fight in a weak division for so long. kessler was the best fighter he beat IMO who was definitely a good fighter. bhop just matched up badly against joe which i knew he would because ive always said that bhop has problems with people who are long and throw punches because he cant dictate the pace of the fight. joe is very lucky he didnt fight jones in his prime because jones would have annihilated him. jones was just way too quick and would have countered him all night long. even an old, slow jones scored a KD in the first round. imagine a prime jones. joe would have been seriously hurt and jones would have capitalized on it.
my point is that calzaghe was a very good fighter but ward is just a great fighter. ward would have taken away joes gameplan which would have resulted in joe looking less than average.
