Al Bernstein says Soto-Karass was robbed

Post  Norm1023 on Thu Nov 18, 2010 5:17 pm

I'm listening to Ring Theory on Ring's website. Bernstein said Soto-Karass wasn't only robbed but they killed him too. He seemed pretty adamant about it.

Huh? The fight was very, very close, but nobody was robbed...or killed...or mutilated...or left to rot in the hot Montana sun...oh wait, that was Custer. What was the question again?

Bernstein was there and said that from ringside he couldn't give Jones more than 4 rounds.

He was also plugging his new website. www.boxingchannel.com. He says they have the rights to all the old fights from The Forum.

Well, like I said, I had it close...and anyway who the hell is Al Bernstein! Wink

I've been checking out some of the old fights. Pretty good scraps between Zaragosza and Paul Banke.

Look I LOVE me some Al Bernstein, but the only way to make Gus Johnson tolerable is to use the mute button on the TV and to have Darkness on the Edge of Town full blast on the stereo.

i saw the fight a draw and actually told my friends that jones was retarded for throwing so many as he was in the process of doing so because he was going to gas. with that a i would love to see a rematch. soto-karass is a dangerous fighter who was on his way to koing gomez and that's exactly why gomez pussied out and decided to go to the scorecards in their fight after he was cut.

The big mistake Jones made was not so much letting it all go, but that he did ZERO bodywork in the process. You do a TON of bodywork in a situation like that because A) it makes a KO more likely and B) so that if you don't finish the guy you have done some damage that will slow him down while you recover.

I knew there was something about you that I liked....BRUCE!!!
As for the fight....Soto-Karass beat Jones from pillar to post from rounds 3-8. Jones won rounds 1&2. That's 6 rounds in the bank. Soto-Karass pressed the action, fought coming forward, banging the body constantly. Jones landed nothing of consequence after the 2nd round. Jones, cannot fight going backwards. So, yeah, I agree, Soto-Karass wuz robbed!!!

They should have a rematch. No one is itching to see Jones again after that performance. Put that fight on another HBO undercard and see if Jones has learned anything. Soto-Karass deserves a marginal payday after that performance.
