Golden Boy interested in Anselmo Moreno/ Parra fight on hold

Post  Guest on Sat Feb 26, 2011 6:34 pm

Golden Boy Promotions is interested in signing WBA bantamweight champion Anselmo "Chemito" Moreno (30-1, 10KOs), according to the boxer's legal adviser Roberto Grimaldo. Golden Boy's rival, Top Rank Promotions, is looking to match Moreno in a unification with WBC/WBO champion Nonito Donaire (26-1, 18KOs). Moreno-Doniare would likely take place in May in San Francisco, California. Golden Boy and Top Rank have to taken part in a co-promotion since 2009. If Moreno signed a promotional deal with Golden Boy, it would cast serious doubts on a potential fight with the Top Rank-promoted Donaire.

Messing with Top Rank or future Mares opponent ?

The title fight between WBA bantamweight world super champion Anselmo ‘Chemito’ Moreno and former world champion Lorenzo Parra is definitely on hold pending a definite date and venue. Some sources indicate that there is a possibility that Top Rank may an offer Moreno a fight with current WBO/WBC bantamweight champion Nonito Donaire. Golden Boy Promotions is also said to be interested in Moreno.

Isn't this fight tonight?
At Panama City: Anselmo Moreno vs. Lorenzo Parra, 12 rounds, for Moreno's WBA bantamweight title; Victor Cayo vs. Jesus Gurrola, 10 rounds, junior welterweight

Eh not really, a fight with Abner Mares IF he wins the tournament would be just as lucrative. It's a cutthroat business, Golden Boy can't play nice.

I don't know about that. Donaire is a much bigger name

I ain't denying that, but it's not like facing Abner Mares in LA IF he wins the tournament would be a that less appealing. Both fights are lucrative and important for the division.

I guess. I think it'd be far more career advancing if he fought and beat Donaire then Mares.

Add on, what else GB got to offer? Nothing.
